Audit Service Sierra Leone The Audit Service is looking for individuals from specialized fields such as civil engineering, and environmental science to join its Performance Audit team. These individuals will provide expert assessment, analysis and recommendations in a performance audit environment, where they will evaluate government programs and systems to assess how well they achieve economy, efficiency and effectiveness. We therefore seek applications from suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans for the position of: Environmental Scientist (Re-advertised) Qualification and Experience: • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Economics, Natural Resources Management or related field. • Experience: Five years’ minimum experience in environmental audits, environmental impact assessments, integrated ecosystem assessments and management of environmental inspections or related field. • Possession of professional certification would be an added advantage. Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications – Excel, PowerPoint and Word Skills and Ability • Meticulous with attention to detail. • Excellent oral and writing skills. • Good analytical skills. • Good critical thinking skills. • Sounf professional judgement • Should be able to produce quality work under pressure. • Skilled at evaluating systems of controls and determining appropriate testing strategies. • Ability to conduct research. • Must be capable of presenting results to senior management Summary of Duties: The Environmental Scientist works under the direct supervision of the Principal Auditor – Performance Audit and is required to lead junior members of the audit team in carrying out performance audits of various ministries, departments, and other government entities. He/she will provide expert assessment, analysis and recommendations as they evaluate government programs and systems, to assess how well they achieve economy, efficiency and effectiveness.
